Korrasami: Just Married

Description

A collaboration piece with the talented :iconhisonae:. She did the colors, I did the lineart. I have to say, when I told her "Color this any way you want" she really brought it to life and it has something that feels new, like rebirth. I teared up when I saw the final product, and yes, the lines are completely my line work, I always draw my lines with a sketchy feel to them. Sh really did an amazing job, so go check the stuff on her profile, it's pretty amazing.

So this piece was something I'd been planning since May, I drew a rough sketch while at school during finals week of Korra and Asami riding off on Naga and it was based upon a picture of my parents at their wedding riding a horse down Cambria and shouting "Just Married" to the locals. I decided to take it further and drew a water tribe symbol with became like a stained glass window one would find at a chapel. I even have the girls in the same pose as my parents. This piece is really sentimental to me and has a special place in my heart. The vibrance and warmth of the piece reflects how much fondness I have for the Korra fandom as a whole. I've really found a home with the Korra fandom, after three years of trying to find a fandom I found a permanent home with Korra. I discovered that my place was not with Avatar, but with Korra. I will always enjoy Avatar, but if Avatar is like a vacation villa, Korra is like a permeant residence. The people in my groups and my close friends have all made me feel so welcome and accepted. I really Identify with Korra and she's surpassed Zuko as my favorite character in the franchise, that's something that takes a lot. Korra is my official account mascot and she will always be my flagship character.

When it comes to Korrasami, I remember first seeing the premier season and wondering, "why don't these two date?". I've always had a soft spot for Korrasami, even though it was kind of a secret thing I was shipping as I was shy to admit that I was shipping the couple. When I saw them walk off into the spirit portal back in december of 2014, I was at my uncle's cabin in Colorado on a snowy evening with my childhood friend and that memory of seeing LGBT representation was one of the best christmas gifts I could have received. I am straight, but I have many LGBT friends who I care for deeply and Korrasami has brought out both my creative spirit and my love for my dear friends. Thank you Mike and Bryan for creating my favorite female character of all time, and thank you to the Korra fandom for helping me find my place on deviantart. :iconyesfinallyplz:. As always, much love to everyone

KORRASAMI IS CANON AND YOU GOTTA DEAL WITH IT!

Edit/disclaimer: Finally contacted the artist who inspired this piece, check out the artwork of mrs Denimcatfish on Tumblr. I ran into her piece from a pointers post and it reminded me a lot of my parent's wedding photograph. Do check her out, she's so talented. Inspirational credit goes to her and my parents :)
